Since my drastic decision to move back in with my parents, I've decided that I will learn how to cook. Cooking wasn't necessarily considered important in my immediate family, but my grandmother and grandfather are "foodies". In fact, they have their own business importing fine oils and foods from Italy and selling them to local SF restaurants. Pretty cool.
I've only been in Miami for a few days and already I could see that my parents eat out a lot. As soon as I got off the plane, for example, we went directly to a diner, and much later in the day we had a very nice meal at a bar close by. This is not to say I don't appreciate going out. In fact, I love it. When I was on my own it was pretty much a special treat since I didn't have a lot of extra money what with all the bills. Now I have picked up my entire life I created in Las Vegas to pursue sanity and to take a break from it all. (That doesn't mean I won't be going to school anymore... I just won't be working and going to school.) In the meantime, cooking will be my priority.
I just feel awful that once again I am a burden to my parents. The least I can do is cook dinners at home for them instead of eating out every night. In this way I can hope that they will be able to save some money rather than me causing a drastic increase in finances with my addition.
Essentially, what we have here is a blog that will highlight the meals I make. It will progress, it will grow and my ideas are sure to change. I may be able to share tips and insights on my endeavours, but for now it will be fairly simple, with simple recipes. I'm talking really simple.
So, wish me luck in my new journey and I'll be sure to write about it.
